APPSC in spotlight

The controversy is back to haunt Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC). The recently concluded prelims exam conducted by the commission has run into controversy with aspirants alleging multiple lapses in the General Studies and the optional question papers. Several complaints of irregularities in setting question papers are pouring in. The candidates are demanding for fresh conduct of the exam. The whole controversy has put question mark over the ability of commission to conduct controversy free exam.
In the last decade almost every exam conducted by the commission has run into controversy. In the year 2015 the allegation of leakage of question paper during the mains exam lead to the dismissal of four officials of the commission. There was widespread protest against the commission which was followed by hunger strike. It looks like commission is not learning from its past mistakes. They continue to commit silly mistakes which are hurting the image of the commission. There is an urgent need to revamp the commission and carry out the much needed reforms. The state government should give up the practice of appointing people with political background as the members of commission. Professional and highly qualified people should be appointed as the member.
