New year gift

When Prime Minister Narendra Modi has advocated for ‘Progressive India’, which will be free from the poison of casteism, communalism, terrorism and corruption, in his final edition of the ‘Mann ki Baat’ for the year 2017, the North East region is all set to get country’s first-ever helicopter-based air dispensary as a new year gift of the Centre to the people of North East. May be under the agenda of “Progressive India”, the Centre has accepted the proposal of the DoNER Ministry for air dispensary for the people of fur-flung areas of the region where no doctor and medical facilities are available.
According to the report, “the helicopters will be based at two locations – Imphal and Shillong, which have premier post-graduate medical institutes from where doctors, along with equipment and paramedical staff, would be able to fly over eight states in the region. On its way back, the same helicopter can also carry a sick patient to a city hospital. Three twin-engine helicopters are proposed to be stationed for the initial operation on six routes in the region around Imphal, Guwahati and Dibrugarh.”
Another good news of this year-end is that Arunachal Pradesh has become the second Open Defecation Free (ODF) state after Sikkim in the North East region. According to state Govt, the ODF target was achieved much before the national target set for the mission.
Hope, the state Govt will fulfill its commitments in the new and accelerate development process with implementation of all projects with transparency and accountability to make Arunachal a front runner state of the country.
