AAPSU submits memo to Rijiju on renaming RGU

ITANAGAR, Oct 13: The All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) has informed that it has submitted a memorandum to Minister of State for Home, Kiren Rijiju regarding renaming of Rajiv Gandhi University to Arunachal University.
The union said that the renaming was an act of aggression on the very identity of the land and its indigenous people.
It also called for conversion of the RGU into a fully residential campus.
The AAPSU said that only a handful of students get admitted in the hostels, due to lack of hostels for both men and women.
The union also called for separate IAS, IPS and other central service cadre for Arunachal Pradesh.
Due to absence of separate cadres of IAS, IPS, IFS, numerous Central schemes could not be implemented and executed properly in the state as AGMUT officers come
to the state for a short period, it said, adding that there is lack of institutional memory and absence of dedicated bureaucracy due to which the state has not yet reached its full potential.
