Don’t ignore

Quite often in war it is the ordinary citizens who are the worst sufferers. The Wancho community of Londing district is right now caught between Indian army and various factions of NSCN. On Tuesday during a village level security meet at an Indian Army camp in the district, the members of community made a passionate appeal to the army to not make their land a battlefield. But the fact is that troubled districts of Tirap, Changlang and Longding became battle field long time ago. The turf wars for superiority among various factions of NSCN along with operation against underground groups (UGs) by security forces have turned three districts into a bloodied battle field.
All these have together made life miserable for the citizens. The security forces and UGs hardly bother about the sufferings of innocent citizens. If this situation persists the life will continue to be miserable for the people of Tirap, Changlang and Longding. The Wancho community has shown lot of courage by coming out in public to express their pain. It is for the army, government of Arunachal and home ministry to look into the issues raised by them. The law enforcing agencies are expected to be more professional and humane than the criminal gangs. Therefore the authorities should not ignore the pain and anguish of the Wancho community. They deserve to be treated with respect and dignity.
