Fire preventive measures & awareness need of the hours

With the beginning of winter season, the reports of fire mishaps from several parts of the state are pouring in. According to a report, not only residential buildings and shops were gutted, but a man also died in a fire mishap in Upper Subansiri district on Saturday. Earlier on 6 January, a man was charred to death in a fire accident in Tirap district. Fire incident also reported from Changlang. The fire that broke out at Changlang market on 4 January reported to have devoured eleven shops and four rented houses at Changlang Market. On 8 January, a fire mishap in Papu village near Naharlagun gutted two OBT houses along with two SPT houses and an attached kitchen.
It is not only the duty and responsibility of the particular Government agency, the education and other line departments should also join hands in creating mass awareness against fire mishap. It is time for the state government to chalk out a plan for bringing awareness on fire mishap and fire preventive measures, particularly among the students in every school of the state in a time-bound manner.
