Political goondaism on display

The violent clashes between TMC and BJP supporters during the BJP President Amit Shah’s rally at Kolkata on Tuesday is classic example of political goondaism on display. During the clash the statue of legendary Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar was damaged and both the parties are accusing each other of vandalizing the statue. The issue has taken massive political colour. The BJP and TMC are trying hard to use the incident to gain political mileage. Trinamol has alleged the saffron party of bringing goons from outside state, while BJP claims that TMC goons are attacking its supporters.
However the fact remains that both the parties are using full muscle and money power to win the election. Further attempts are being made by TMC as well as BJP to polarize the election for their benefits. BJP is relentlessly using communal colour to make inroad into Bengal and TMC has fallen into their trap. The Governance has taken back seat and winning election has become more important for Mamata Banerjee. The Prime Minister Narendra Modi and party chief Amit Shah has made West Bengal a priority state. They are using every trick in the book to win maximum seats from states like Odisha, Bengal etc to make up for any potential loss in the Hindi belt. But West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is strongly resisting the move and is giving back to duo in equal terms. This is causing mayhem and people of Bengal are suffering for no fault of theirs. Both the parties should peacefully fight the election.
