Inspiring performance

The sub-junior girls’ football team from Arunachal Pradesh has made the entire state proud by entering the final of the Hero Sub-junior Girls’ National Football Championship. This is an outstanding achievement, considering the fact that these girls defeated some of the top teams of the country on their way to the final. The girls’ team has made the whole state proud with their incredible run. Everyone will be rooting for them in the final. Even without proper support system and poor infrastructure, the team has achieved a big success.
The success of the girls’ team has once again proved that, if given proper support, the sportspersons of the state can do wonders. There is potential, but the authorities have so far failed to properly tap them. Now that Member of Parliament from Arunachal West, Kiren Rijiju, has been appointed as the union minister of state (independent charge) for youth affairs and sports, there is huge expectation from him. The government of Arunachal should make use of this opportunity and take the assistance of the Centre to improve the sports infrastructure of the state. The fund should be properly used to create world-class sports infrastructure in the state. Further, the state government should recruit more coaches to hone the skills of the budding sport stars. For now, let us rejoice in the success of the sub-junior girls’ football team and take inspiration from them.
