Stop practice of illegal appointment

Allegation of illegal appointments without conducting interview has re-surfaced in the state. This time, the department of Land Management is under the scanner of the public. The Arunachal Pradesh Youth Congress has alleged that several persons have been illegally appointed in the department by violating the laid down norms.
The allegation is serious in nature and needs to be thoroughly investigated. If found true, all the officials involved in the scam should be held responsible and strong action should be initiated against them.
Illegal appointment is one of the biggest threats to the unemployed youth. The rich and influential use this means to provide jobs to their near and dear ones; taking away the employment opportunity of several talented youths.
Now that the Staff Selection Board (SSB) has been constituted, the state government should carry out recruitment through it. The SSB has a very important role to play as it will carry out majority of the job recruitment process for group C and D posts.
However, learning from the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission, which is constantly in news for all the wrong reasons, the SSB will have to create a robust recruitment system. If they too fail to conduct controversy-free examinations, the people of the state will soon lose hope in them as well.
The government departments should also stop making illegal appointments. It is better to conduct examinations and select the best person. One of the main reasons for bureaucratic red tapism in the state is illegal appointment. Many of these people pay huge money to get appointed illegally and later indulge in rampant corruption to recover the invested money.
