Extend support

With the issuing of the traffic advisory diverting the traffic between Raj Bhavan (Itanagar) and Papu Nallah (Naharlagun) via Jullang from 9 pm to 6 am, starting 21 October, the construction of the four-lane highway is expected to pick up pace. The traffic advisory has been issued to allow the contractor to work without any hindrance during nighttime. It has been necessitated as the constant flow of traffic disturbed the work. With the contractor, TK Engineering, gearing up to speed up work, now it is upto the administration and the citizens to extend support to it.
The capital administration, particularly the police department, should strictly implement the order. On their part, the citizens should follow the order and create an atmosphere conducive to carrying out of the work by the contractor without any hindrance. It is often seen that citizens create unnecessary hurdles in construction of roads, especially in the capital region. Even during the construction of the cement concrete roads in various sectors and colonies within the capital complex, the PWD faced several hurdles. Incidents like attack on labourers and forcible driving vehicles on the newly constructed CC roads were reported. If the citizens want a good road, they will have to extend support to the contractor and the departments concerned. Further, the departments should speed up the process of utility shifting from NH 415. On several stretches, the electric poles and water pipelines are yet to be shifted. This is hampering the progress of work.
