A beginning has been made

After a lengthy delay, the construction of the Potin to Pangin two-lane road under Package 2 started from near Hapoli in Lower Subansiri district on Wednesday. The majority of the work in this section has not been started yet. The compensation issue has put a brake on this ambitious road project. Several people, including government officials and private individuals, have been arrested for illegally acquiring compensation money. The case is currently being investigated by the state police. However, the start of work under Package 2 is a positive sign. Though very late, a beginning has been made.
The Potin to Pangin Trans-Arunachal Highway (TAH), once completed, will change the face of the state. It will drastically improve the condition of the road and improve inter-district connectivity. One can only hope that work on the whole stretch starts sooner. Now that the work under Package 2 has started, it is the duty of the administration and the public to extend cooperation to the contractor. The citizens should create a congenial atmosphere and the administration should provide encumbrance-free land to the executing agency. Also, it’s time people rose above petty politics and stopped obstructing work for their personal political benefit. The TAH scam that rocked the Potin to Pangin two-lane road has been a big learning experience for the people of the state. The time has come for everyone to move ahead. The law enforcing agencies are probing the matter; let them do their job. This issue should not be a hindrance to the Potin to Pangin TAH.
