ITANAGAR, Apr 20:<\/strong> The All Nyishi Youth Association (ANYA) has urged the capital complex administration, the police, and the health department to work in tandem to prevent the spread of Covid-19 in the state.
\nCiting reports of alleged breach of the Covid-19 quarantine protocol on at least two occasions – first on 15 April by the Changlang CJM, and the second on 19 April by the personal security officer (PSO) and two drivers of the Lower Subansiri SP – the ANYA said the three frontline departments seem to be not working in proper coordination.
\nIt said the health department should not succumb to pressure from any authority or individual while taking decisions on quarantining those returning from Covid-19 hotspots.
\nThe ANYA also appealed to the capital’s residents to cooperate with the administration and the police until the lockdown is lifted.
\n“The huge traffic jams in Naharlagun and Itanagar show that the public are not cooperating with the police and the administration,” the association said, and urged the authorities concerned to initiate action against such lockdown violators.<\/p>\n

Orgs demands action<\/strong>
\nMeanwhile, a few capital complex-based youth organizations, along with youths engaged as Covid-19 volunteers, social activists, and former student leaders, have expressed serious concern over the alleged breach of the Covid-19 quarantine protocol by the PSO and the drivers of the Lower Subansiri SP, who entered the state capital via the Hollongi check gate on 19 April.
\nThe Gohpur Youth Association, the Ward-1 Youth Association, the SHYA, and former student leaders, social activists and Covid-19 volunteers in a joint representation to the capital complex DC demanded action against all those responsible for the entire episode, including the Lower Subansiri SP and the owner of the car involved in it.
\nThey informed the DC that two of the returnees are residents of Forest Colony, Van Vihar, Chimpu, and they reached the colony at around 5:30 am on 19 April, but were placed under quarantine at around 3 pm, only after mounting pressure from the residents of the area.
\n“We are not aware how they kept themselves in quarantine in the period between their screening and finally putting them under quarantine,” they said.
\n“We want that the people who were party to the issue be held responsible, starting from the SP Lower Subansiri, the driver(s) of the vehicle and the officer pressuring the medical team, leading to their initial release,” the representation read.
\nIt also said that the in-charge of the Hollongi check gate committed a blunder by letting the trio cross the check gate without proper interrogation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
