{"id":137039,"date":"2020-09-11T00:51:43","date_gmt":"2020-09-10T19:21:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/?p=137039"},"modified":"2020-09-11T00:51:43","modified_gmt":"2020-09-10T19:21:43","slug":"awws-trained-in-nutritional-gardening","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/index.php\/2020\/09\/11\/awws-trained-in-nutritional-gardening\/","title":{"rendered":"AWWs trained in nutritional gardening"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>MAHADEVPUR, Sep 10:<\/strong> Forty-three anganwadi workers (AWW) participated in a training programme on &#8216;nutritional garden&#8217;, organized here by the Namsai KVK on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/AWWs-trained-in-nutritional-gardening.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-137041 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/AWWs-trained-in-nutritional-gardening.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"416\" height=\"234\" srcset=\"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/AWWs-trained-in-nutritional-gardening.jpg 416w, https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/AWWs-trained-in-nutritional-gardening-300x169.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 416px) 100vw, 416px\" \/><\/a>The programme was organized under the nutri-sensitive agri resources and innovations (NARI) to promote nutritional gardening and child development in the district.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">While Lekang CDPO SK Namshum encouraged the AWWs to develop nutritional gardens at the anganwadi centres, KVK Head Dr Debasis Sasmal urged the participants to &#8220;encourage 4-5-year-old students in nutritional garden at anganwadi centres,&#8221; and to develop kitchen gardens at home.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;Anganwadi centre is the main place where children start learning; they could learn about gardening of fruits and vegetables and have micro and macro nutri-thali at the centre itself, produced by them,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Agrometeorology scientist Bidyapati Ngangom spoke on how to develop a nutritional garden, covering fruits and vegetables, and on preparation of vegetable nursery beds. She also spoke about packaging and &#8220;practices of winter vegetables.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Plant protection scientist Dr Madhumita Sonowal Bora presented a brief on insect pest and disease management in fruits and vegetables, and preparation of vermicompost using available resources from a kitchen garden.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Vegetables seeds were later distributed to all the participants.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MAHADEVPUR, Sep 10: Forty-three anganwadi workers (AWW) participated in a training programme on &#8216;nutritional garden&#8217;, organized here by the Namsai KVK on Thursday.
