{"id":147998,"date":"2021-01-23T00:36:10","date_gmt":"2021-01-22T19:06:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/?p=147998"},"modified":"2021-01-23T00:36:10","modified_gmt":"2021-01-22T19:06:10","slug":"governor-visits-mawlynnong-village-in-meghalaya","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/index.php\/2021\/01\/23\/governor-visits-mawlynnong-village-in-meghalaya\/","title":{"rendered":"Governor visits Mawlynnong village in Meghalaya"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>ITANAGAR, 22 Jan:<\/strong> Arunachal Governor BD Mishra along with his wife Neelam Misra visited Mawlynnong village in Meghalaya on 22 January.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Mawlynnong village was awarded the title of the &#8216;cleanest village in Asia&#8217; by Discover India in 2003.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The governor, who is on an official tour of Meghalaya to attend the 69th plenary of the North Eastern Council, visited the village and interacted with the inhabitants and officials.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The governor was impressed by the 100 percent literacy rate of the villagers and the highly progressive role of the village&#8217;s women to showcase their village &#8220;as an acme of neatness.&#8221; He suggested to the Arunachal government to &#8220;provide an opportunity to tour the Mawlynnong village and see for themselves.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;This is the benefit of the village folk being individually and collectively responsible and conscious towards area cleanliness and hygiene,&#8221; he said.
