{"id":149393,"date":"2021-02-03T02:26:30","date_gmt":"2021-02-02T20:56:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/?p=149393"},"modified":"2021-02-03T02:26:30","modified_gmt":"2021-02-02T20:56:30","slug":"hydropower-key-to-arunachals-financial-sustenance-cm","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/index.php\/2021\/02\/03\/hydropower-key-to-arunachals-financial-sustenance-cm\/","title":{"rendered":"Hydropower key to Arunachal&#8217;s financial sustenance: CM"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Regional pre-budget consultative meet<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>ITANAGAR, 2 Feb:<\/strong> Chief Minister Pema Khandu said &#8216;for the state to sustain financially hydropower is the key.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Stressing for development of hydropower projects in the state, the CM informed that major hydropower projects in the state are being expedited.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He was addressing the regional pre-budget consultative meeting for the Upper Subansiri, Kamle, Lower Subansiri, Kra-Daadi, Kurung Kumey and Papumpare districts on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He said that the Kameng 600 MW project has been commissioned adding that 2880 MW Dibang and\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 1750 MW Lower Demwe projects will start soon. He further informed that by the year 2022, 2000 MW Lower Subansiri project would also see its completion.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">During the meeting, Khandu requested the officials to prepare a realistic budget and &#8216;not an exaggerated one that would have no guarantee for success.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The CM stressed on adopting the policy of convergence of schemes to enhance growth and development outcomes. He called for a paradigm shift in the way development is planned moving away from expenditure-oriented projects to outcome-oriented works. He suggested that the &#8216;Clean Itanagar&#8217; mission be taken up and schemes dovetailed and converged for an effective outcome.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0To boost performance of various centrally sponsored schemes (CSS) in Arunachal, the CM urged the departments to achieve the target of implementing schemes worth Rs. 5000 Cr in the state.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Expressing optimism, he said that despite the Covid-19 challenges, the state government in the previous year could achieve the target of over Rs. 3500 Cr.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0&#8220;The union budget this year has provided a major boost towards infrastructure,&#8221; the CM said while expressing the hope that Arunachal would also be a part of this great push.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He, however, expressed concern over the poor &#8216;absorption capacity&#8217; of the government departments that impedes in fully utilizing the funds provided by the centre.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">CM suggested that the government officials be trained and motivated to perform.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0Earlier, deputy chief minister Chowna Mein said that the annual budget is the most important document to accelerate and formulate a people-friendly, realistic and need based budget reflecting the aspirations and hopes of the people of respective districts.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The DCM further said &#8216;the state government aims to present the best budget ever prepared in the history of Arunachal.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0Among others, home minister Bamang Felix, education minister Taba Tedir, agriculture minister Tage Taki, MLAs, chief secretary, commissioner (planning) were present.
