{"id":156796,"date":"2021-04-26T02:02:09","date_gmt":"2021-04-25T20:32:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/?p=156796"},"modified":"2021-04-26T02:02:09","modified_gmt":"2021-04-25T20:32:09","slug":"vety-team-takes-stock-of-fmd-outbreak","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/index.php\/2021\/04\/26\/vety-team-takes-stock-of-fmd-outbreak\/","title":{"rendered":"Vety team takes stock of FMD outbreak"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>BOLENG, 25 Apr:<\/strong> In order to obtain firsthand information regarding the outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) in parts of Siang district, neighbouring Upper Siang, Central Zone Disease Investigation Officer (DIO) Dr Jikom Panor and Siang District Animal Husbandry &amp; Veterinary (AH&amp;V) Officer Dr Karik Mize visited Pangkang and Riga villages with field officers and staff of the department on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">They explained to the villagers the ways and means to tackle FMD in the event of a massive outbreak, besides imparting awareness about the disease.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Along with the district AH&amp;V office, the central zone DIO distributed medicines provided by the National Research Centre on Mithun, Nagaland. The DIO also explained the technicalities<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">behind the department&#8217;s inability to initiate ring vaccination against the disease at present.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Dr Mize assured the farmers of all possible help to combat FMD, &#8220;except vaccination, which has been put on hold by the government.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">During the visit of the veterinary team, no outbreak was reported or observed in Pangkang village. Three FMD infected mithuns quarantined in a WRC field were treated for FMD at Peging-Bote (Riga).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">No mortality has been reported from any part of Siang district.
