{"id":172314,"date":"2021-09-21T03:08:15","date_gmt":"2021-09-20T21:38:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/?p=172314"},"modified":"2021-09-21T03:08:15","modified_gmt":"2021-09-20T21:38:15","slug":"17-days-religious-trek-to-sacred-place-athu-popu-concludes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/index.php\/2021\/09\/21\/17-days-religious-trek-to-sacred-place-athu-popu-concludes\/","title":{"rendered":"17 days religious trek to sacred place Athu Popu concludes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>[ Karyir Riba ]<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>ROING, 20 Sep:<\/strong> &#8216;Life after death&#8217;, a 17 days religious trek to Athu Popu, which is the most sacred place of the Idu Mishmis, concluded successfully on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The trek was flagged-off by Deputy Commissioner Dibang Valley Minga Sherpa and Cdr 117 Mountain Brigade, Brig Deepak Gau, on 3 September.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This first of its kind civil-army joint trek was led by Tine Mena, the first woman Everester from Northeast India.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The team comprised 31 members, including three women, from different walks of life. There were local conservationists, adventure travel curators, Idu Mishmi shamans and members of the Fifth Gorkha Rifles.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">GOC-in-C, Eastern Command Lt Gen Manoj Pande\u00a0 met and congratulated Mena and the team members for successfully completing the trek that had commenced on 3 September from Maliney in Dibang Valley district, which is approximately 120 kms from Athu Popu near the border to China.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Athu Popu is located approximately 290 kms from Roing and holds a very significant place in local Idu Mishmi culture.
