ITANAGAR, 17 Oct:<\/strong> The Galo Welfare Society’s (GWS) capital region women’s team celebrated Nyirmen Aloo (‘Womanhood Day’) in a fitting manner at the Mopin\/Solung ground here on 15 October, under the aegis of the GWS.<\/p>\n Addressing the event, GWS Women’s Wing president Mipu Sora Ori said that “Nyirme Aloo is a very special occasion of the Galo society, particularly its womenfolk. It is a colourful festival that promotes peace, happiness and harmonious life. One can be a part of the festival irrespective of their caste, colour and religion.”<\/p>\n \u00a0Unlike Mopin festival of the Galo community, which is a religious and ritualistic festival involving animal sacrifice, Nyirmen Aloo is a festival without any ritualistic activity, she said.<\/p>\n “It is purely a merrymaking festival dedicated to the womenfolk and celebrated by womenfolk, fully supported by menfolk.
