{"id":175850,"date":"2021-11-03T00:13:52","date_gmt":"2021-11-02T18:43:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/?p=175850"},"modified":"2021-11-03T00:13:52","modified_gmt":"2021-11-02T18:43:52","slug":"3-arrested-with-1-1-kg-heroin-near-shillong","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/index.php\/2021\/11\/03\/3-arrested-with-1-1-kg-heroin-near-shillong\/","title":{"rendered":"3 arrested with 1.1 kg heroin near Shillong"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Shillong, Nov 2 (PTI) Three persons were arrested with 1.1 kg of heroin in Meghalaya&#8217;s East Khasi Hills district, police said on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Acting on a tip-off, a vehicle transporting drugs from Manipur to Shillong was intercepted at the entry point to the city, Superintendent of Police Sylvester Nongtynger said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Two persons were present in the vehicle, and after a thorough search, 100 soapboxes of heroin were seized, he said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The duo was immediately arrested, he added.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Another man, to whom the drugs worth around Rs 2 crore were to be delivered, was also arrested, he said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As per the preliminary probe, the drugs were trafficked from Myanmar for sale in Shillong, police said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A case was registered under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, they said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">At present, the trio is in COVID-19 quarantine and will be produced in court as and when protocols permit, the police officer said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Shillong, Nov 2 (PTI) Three persons were arrested with 1.1 kg of heroin in Meghalaya&#8217;s East Khasi Hills district, police said on Tuesday.
