{"id":176728,"date":"2021-11-14T00:08:15","date_gmt":"2021-11-13T18:38:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/?p=176728"},"modified":"2021-11-14T00:08:15","modified_gmt":"2021-11-13T18:38:15","slug":"meghalaya-govt-to-set-up-museum-for-garo-tribe-to-attract-tourists","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/index.php\/2021\/11\/14\/meghalaya-govt-to-set-up-museum-for-garo-tribe-to-attract-tourists\/","title":{"rendered":"Meghalaya govt to set up museum for Garo tribe to attract tourists"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Tura (Meghalaya), Nov 13 (PTI) In a major boost for tourism in Western Meghalaya, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Saturday announced setting up of a &#8220;Garo Heritage Village&#8221; in West Garo Hills district at a cost of Rs 10 crore.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Though the chief minister did not elaborate on the project, official sources said it will be a museum showcasing the culture and tradition of the Garo community at Chibragre locality of Tura, the headquarters of West Garo Hills district.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Various infrastructure would be developed to attract tourists to &#8220;Garo Heritage Village&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The chief minister announced the project while addressing a programme on the concluding day of the three-day of Wangala festival in the district.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;Govt is committed to promote &amp; preserve the rich culture &amp; traditions of the Garos.
