{"id":17683,"date":"2018-01-29T00:44:47","date_gmt":"2018-01-28T19:14:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/?p=17683"},"modified":"2018-01-29T00:44:47","modified_gmt":"2018-01-28T19:14:47","slug":"end-revenge-killing-and-fine-system-ansu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/index.php\/2018\/01\/29\/end-revenge-killing-and-fine-system-ansu\/","title":{"rendered":"End revenge killing and fine system: ANSU"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Staff Reporter<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>ITANAGAR, Jan 28:<\/strong> The All Nyishi Students&#8217; Union (ANSU) on Sunday called for an end to &#8216;revenge killing&#8217; and &#8216;fine system&#8217;.<br \/>\n&#8220;Revenge killing is one of the major social problems of the community, which proves detrimental in the end,&#8221; said ANSU president Toko Takam while addressing the 36th foundation day of the union at its office at Tallang Hira Memorial Complex here on Sunday.<br \/>\nHe informed that an ANSU team went on a peace mission to Dem village in June last year after a boy had been murdered.<br \/>\n&#8220;The team counselled the family members of the victim not to practice the revenge system,&#8221; he said, and urged the leaders of the community to work towards ending the evil practice which still prevails in some pockets.<br \/>\nHe also strongly opposed the &#8216;fine system&#8217;, and appealed to the community members to stop practicing it.<br \/>\nThe ANSU president said his team is committed to protecting the interests of Nyishis, with education being the major focus.<br \/>\nHe said one of the major problems that the students of the community are facing is shortage of teachers in schools in Nyishi inhabited areas. The ANSU leader informed that, after repeated demands, the state government has assured to post teachers in those schools in the coming academic session.<br \/>\nANSU general secretary Tukbom Ligu also spoke.<br \/>\nFormer ANSU and AAPSU leaders, and presidents and general secretaries of various branch student unions attended the programme.
