{"id":179781,"date":"2021-12-20T02:34:19","date_gmt":"2021-12-19T21:04:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/?p=179781"},"modified":"2021-12-20T02:34:19","modified_gmt":"2021-12-19T21:04:19","slug":"apls-unit-reviews-tigers-are-our-brothers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/index.php\/2021\/12\/20\/apls-unit-reviews-tigers-are-our-brothers\/","title":{"rendered":"APLS unit reviews \u2018Tigers are Our Brothers\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>[ Karyir Riba ]<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>ROING, 19 Dec:<\/strong> The Lower Dibang Valley (LDV) district unit of the Arunachal Pradesh Literary Society (APLS) on Sunday conducted a session at the Mipi Pene Centre here to review the book Tigers are Our Brothers: Anthropology of Wildlife Conservation in Northeast India, authored by IITGN Humanities &amp; Social Sciences Assistant Professor Dr Ambika Aiyadurai and published by Oxford University Press.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The book is based on Dr Aiyadurai&#8217;s long-term ethnographic fieldwork along the Sino-India borderlands of Arunachal Pradesh, and critically engages in debates of wildlife conservation and its impact on the lives of the Idu-Mishmi community.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Dr Aiyadurai highlighted the key arguments of the book by dwelling on &#8220;the conflict between natural sciences and social science in relation to wildlife conservation.&#8221; She highlighted the importance of<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">examining the concept of nature and conservation from the perspective of the indigenous communities.
