{"id":182139,"date":"2022-01-21T01:10:27","date_gmt":"2022-01-20T19:40:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/?p=182139"},"modified":"2022-01-21T01:10:27","modified_gmt":"2022-01-20T19:40:27","slug":"farmers-trained-in-community-horticulture","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/index.php\/2022\/01\/21\/farmers-trained-in-community-horticulture\/","title":{"rendered":"Farmers trained in community horticulture"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>INNAO, 20 Jan:<\/strong> Farmers from Dumba Mossang, Dumba Singpho, Innao Khamti, Innao Singpho and Mudoi villages benefitted from a training programme on &#8216;Community horticulture project for livelihood generation&#8217;, organized here in Changlang district recently.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Funded by the NABARD under the Integrated Tribal Development Project (ITDP), the programme was conducted by NGO North East India Committee on Relief and Development (NEICORD).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The project envisages development of 200 wadis (1 acre per beneficiary) of the farmers.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;This ITDP has a period of six years, with the aim to promote livelihood through sustainable agriculture by establishing wadi for plantation of arecanut, pineapple, turmeric, moringa and black pepper for 200 farmers,&#8221; the NABARD informed in a release.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">NABARD DDM Kamal Roy encouraged the farmers to &#8220;start ground-level activities before plantation of horticulture crops.&#8221; He highlighted various components of the projects, such as horticulture plantation and maintenance, water resource development, soil conservation, community health awareness programmes, women&#8217;s development, capacity building training programmes and other project-related components.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">NEICORD technical officer Rajdeep Singha said that &#8220;arecanut, pineapple and turmeric varieties selected for cultivation have regular demand from local markets and hence no problems are envisaged in marketing of future wadi produce.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">However, in order to enable the farmers to fetch good returns for their produce, the NEICORD will encourage forming a farmers-producers organization for marketing the produce.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Horticulture Field Assistant MB Mishra explained the &#8220;technical parameters of selected horticulture crops for plantation and its management.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>INNAO, 20 Jan: Farmers from Dumba Mossang, Dumba Singpho, Innao Khamti, Innao Singpho and Mudoi villages benefitted from a training programme on &#8216;Community horticulture project for livelihood generation&#8217;, organized here in Changlang district recently.
