{"id":183103,"date":"2022-02-02T00:20:24","date_gmt":"2022-02-01T18:50:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/?p=183103"},"modified":"2022-02-02T00:20:24","modified_gmt":"2022-02-01T18:50:24","slug":"skm-terms-budget-anti-farmer-asks-farmers-to-prepare-for-massive-struggle-for-msp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/index.php\/2022\/02\/02\/skm-terms-budget-anti-farmer-asks-farmers-to-prepare-for-massive-struggle-for-msp\/","title":{"rendered":"SKM terms budget \u2018anti-farmer\u2019, asks farmers to prepare for \u2018massive struggle\u2019 for MSP"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">New Delhi, Feb 1 (PTI): Alleging the Union Budget for 2022-23 has shown the government does not care about farmers\u2019 welfare, the Samyukta Kisan Morcha on Tuesday called on farmers to prepare for another \u201cmassive struggle\u201d over minimum support price and other issues.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The umbrella body of farm unions, that spearheaded protests against the Centre\u2019s now-repealed agri laws, claimed there has been a reduction in the share of agriculture and allied activities in the Budget to 3.8 per cent from 4.3 per cent last time.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It claimed the government wants to \u201cpunish\u201d the farmers for their successful over a year-long demonstration at Delhi\u2019s borders that were withdrawn after the contentious farm laws were rescinded in Parliament last year.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cOn the whole, this Budget has shown the government does not care about the welfare of farmers despite the \u2018jumla\u2019 (rhetoric) of adding \u2018Farmers Welfare\u2019 to the name of its Ministry.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cIt is as if the government, smarting under its defeat on the three anti-farmer laws, is out to take revenge on the farmer community,\u201d the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It pointed out that the government has not established the committee on MSP even after 50 days of its written promise.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWhile the farmers are demanding MSP guarantee for all crops, the Budget speech mentioned only procurement for paddy and wheat from 1.63 crore farmers which form about 10 per cent of all farmers in the country.\u201d \u201cThe SKM denounces this anti-farmer budget and calls upon the farmers of the country to prepare for another massive struggle for the minimum support price and other burning issues,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Accusing the government of \u201cstalling\u201d the demand for legal guarantee of MSP, it said, \u201cThe least expected by the farmers is the government will make sufficient budget allocations to implement MSP.\u201d On Monday too, the SKM threatened to resume its agitation if the government does not fulfil promises made to farmers in December last year.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Thousands of farmers from Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh camped at Delhi\u2019s borders for over a year demanding the repeal of the Centre\u2019s three contentious farm laws.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">They decided to suspend their protest, on December 9 last year after the government gave in to their main demand and agreed to consider six others, including a legal guarantee on MSP.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>New Delhi, Feb 1 (PTI): Alleging the Union Budget for 2022-23 has shown the government does not care about farmers\u2019 welfare, the Samyukta Kisan Morcha on Tuesday called on farmers to prepare for another \u201cmassive struggle\u201d over minimum support price and other issues.
