{"id":183738,"date":"2022-02-08T02:08:44","date_gmt":"2022-02-07T20:38:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/?p=183738"},"modified":"2022-02-08T02:08:44","modified_gmt":"2022-02-07T20:38:44","slug":"kidnapped-labourers-still-in-captivity-negotiations-on-to-secure-release","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/index.php\/2022\/02\/08\/kidnapped-labourers-still-in-captivity-negotiations-on-to-secure-release\/","title":{"rendered":"Kidnapped labourers still in captivity; negotiations on to secure release"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Staff Reporter<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>PUMAO, 7 Feb:<\/strong> A week has passed and there is still no clue regarding the whereabouts of the two labourers who were kidnapped by operatives allegedly belonging to the NSCN (K-YA) on 31 January from Pumao circle of Longding district.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Hiren Konch (31) from Assam and Ramashis Mahato (35) from Bihar, both excavator drivers, are still in the captivity of the underground outfit.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Police suspect that the captives were taken towards Zahsia village in Mon district of Nagaland.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Meanwhile, sources informed that the NSCN (K-YA) has demanded a ransom of Rs 4 crores for the duo&#8217;s release.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Longding DSP B Tangjang on Monday informed that hectic parleys are underway to secure their release.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;We are also in touch with the families of both Hiren Konch and Ramashis Mahato, and we are keeping them updated about every development,&#8221; he informed.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On the night of 31 January, suspected NSCN (K-YA) operatives kidnapped the duo along with one Banphua Wangpan of Longding while they were engaged in the PMGSY road construction work between Longkhaw and Pumao villages in Longding district.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Wangpan was released the next day and has since returned to his native village Longkhaw.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Staff Reporter PUMAO, 7 Feb: A week has passed and there is still no clue regarding the whereabouts of the two labourers who were kidnapped by operatives allegedly belonging to the NSCN (K-YA) on 31 January from Pumao circle of Longding district.
