Staff Reporter<\/strong><\/p>\n ITANAGAR, 12 Feb:<\/strong> Altogether 123 candidates passed the examination conducted recently by the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) for the posts of sub-inspector.<\/p>\n Five out of the 123 successful candidates are females.<\/p>\n The written exam had been held from 16 to 17 October, 2021, and the viva voce was held from 24 January to 2 February this year.<\/p>\n APPSC Secretary Jayanta Kumar Ray informed that 18,745 candidates had applied for the posts. “Out of them, 645 were females, making it 67 percent males and 33 percent females,” he informed.<\/p>\n Eight thousand males and 2,000 females cleared the physical tests, while 1,288 males and 210 females cleared the recruitment test.<\/p>\n As per the standing order issued by the police headquarters in 2004, the height of male APST candidates should be 5’3″ and that of female APST candidates should be 5 feet. Males from Tirap and Changlang districts may be up to 5 feet tall.<\/p>\n Some of the candidates who have been selected for the posts of SI said that the commission should have a reservation for females. A male candidate opined that “the commission should totally scrap the physical test category, so that it can give a fairer chance to females as well, and rather focus on training.”<\/p>\n A lady police officer who is serving in one of the women police stations here opined that “Woman reservation is not the case. The important part is the society’s mindset on woman’s participation in police.
