{"id":187538,"date":"2022-03-29T00:13:52","date_gmt":"2022-03-28T18:43:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/?p=187538"},"modified":"2022-03-29T00:13:52","modified_gmt":"2022-03-28T18:43:52","slug":"neeraj-chopra-pramod-bhagat-receive-padma-shri","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/index.php\/2022\/03\/29\/neeraj-chopra-pramod-bhagat-receive-padma-shri\/","title":{"rendered":"Neeraj Chopra, Pramod Bhagat receive Padma Shri"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">NEW DELHI, 28 Mar: Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra on Monday received the Padma Shri, the country&#8217;s fourth highest civilian award.<br \/>\nThe 24-year-old javelin thrower received the prestigious award from President Ram Nath Kovind at the Rashtrapati Bhavan during a ceremony.<br \/>\nParalympic gold medallist in badminton Pramod Bhagat was also conferred with the honour alongside Chopra.<br \/>\nChopra made history at the Tokyo Olympics by becoming the first Indian to win a gold medal in a track and field event in the Games&#8217; history.<br \/>\nHe also became only the second Indian to win an individual Olympic gold after shooter Abhinav Bindra.<br \/>\nThe 33-year-old Bhagat also became the first Indian to win a gold medal in para badminton, which made its debut at the Paralympics last year.<br \/>\nBhagat, who had contracted polio when he was 4 years old, won the gold in the men&#8217;s singles SL3 class.
