AALO, 3 Apr:<\/strong> The judge of the special POCSO court here in West Siang district has sentenced one Pakbin alias Mabin alias Kyabin Sikom alias Batak (22-23 years) to undergo 20 years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) and pay a fine of Rs 1,500.<\/p>\n Sikom is accused of raping a girl aged 8-9 years old in his residence in Sikarijo in Upper Subansiri district. An FIR to this effect had been lodged by the child’s mother at the Daporijo police station 8 September, 2021 – the same day that the incident occurred.<\/p>\n The Daporijo PS OC registered the case (No 50\/21 u\/s 376(2) (j) IPC, r\/w Section 6 of POCSO Act, 2012) and investigation was launched. During investigation, it was found that the accused and the victim were\u00a0 neighbours in the same locality.<\/p>\n After completion of investigation, the investigating officer filed his chargesheet against the accused (u\/s 376 (2) (j)\/506 IPC r\/w Section 6 of POCSO Act), and forwarded the case to the special POCSO court here on 6 October, 2021, for trial.<\/p>\n During the trial, the accused pleaded guilty, and Special POCSO Court Judge Tage Halley convicted and sentenced him.<\/p>\n The fine amount imposed against the accused shall be paid to the victim through her parent(s)\/guardian(s) immediately after receipt of the same. Further, as per the submission made by special public prosecutor K Angu, an application has been forwarded to the Arunachal Pradesh State Legal Services Authority<\/p>\n for payment of compensation to the victim under the Arunachal Pradesh Victim Compensation Scheme, 2011.
