ITANAGAR, 28 Apr:<\/strong> A workshop titled ‘Scope and career opportunities in anthropology’ was organised jointly by the anthropology department of the Dera Natung Government College (DNGC) and the Arunachal Anthropological Forum (AAF) here on 28 April.<\/p>\n On the occasion, DNGC’s anthropology department signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the AAF “for the purpose of academic and research interaction for the next three years,” the college informed in a release.<\/p>\n DNGC Principal Dr MQ Khan and Anthropology Department Head Dr Ratna Tayeng, along with AAF chairperson Jimmy Sonam and general secretary Lopen Paduk signed the MoU.<\/p>\n “Both the institutions will explore the possibilities for collaborative activities in academic and research activities and to develop collaborative research projects for submitting to various funding agencies,” the release stated.<\/p>\n Dr Tayeng spoke on the importance of anthropology in the state, and said that “we must contribute anthropological knowledge back to the society; then only our anthropology will grow popular.”<\/p>\n Dr Khan referred to Verrier Elwin and Christop Von Furer Haimendorf, and their tremendous contributions to the tribal communities all over India, specifically Arunachal Pradesh.<\/p>\n Paduk gave a lecture on research methods, while Taba Menia spoke on quantitative and qualitative research methods, saying that they are “the most fundamental framework for every anthropology student.”<\/p>\n Nang Pinni Mein presented an overview of the various fields and departments in both government and private sectors where students and scholars of anthropology can be engaged.<\/p>\n As many as 120 students participated in the workshop.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" ITANAGAR, 28 Apr: A workshop titled ‘Scope and career opportunities in anthropology’ was organised jointly by the anthropology department of the Dera Natung Government College (DNGC) and the Arunachal Anthropological Forum (AAF) here on 28 April.
