PAPU NALLAH, 28 May:<\/strong> The Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women (APSCW), in collaboration with the Oju Welfare Association (OWA), celebrated the World Menstrual Hygiene Day by organising an awareness camp at the latter’s premises here on 28 May.<\/p>\n APSCW Vice Chairperson Nabam Yahi Tad said that menstruation is a natural and unavoidable part of life, and that it should not be taken as a taboo.<\/p>\n Stating that corporate houses like Zomato grants paid leave to female employees during their menstrual period, she said that “the government should be approached for adoption of a policy in this regard.”<\/p>\n IMA member Dr Marinda Panggeng explained menstrual hygiene management, while OWA chairperson Ratan Anya urged the commission to “make a recommendation to the government for providing sanitation facilities for women in market areas, schools and other important places.”<\/p>\n The inmates of the OWA and members of the APSCW attended the programme, and sanitary pads were distributed to all the participants.<\/p>\n The programme was sponsored by the National Commission for Women (NCW).<\/p>\n Further, members of Women Helpline-181, run by the OWA, displayed a ‘nukkad natak’ in Pachin Colony, Naharlagun, under the aegis of the NCW, to create awareness about menstrual hygiene, and also distributed sanitary pads.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" PAPU NALLAH, 28 May: The Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women (APSCW), in collaboration with the Oju Welfare Association (OWA), celebrated the World Menstrual Hygiene Day by organising an awareness camp at the latter’s premises here on 28 May.
