{"id":193803,"date":"2022-06-24T00:45:59","date_gmt":"2022-06-23T19:15:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/?p=193803"},"modified":"2022-06-24T01:04:48","modified_gmt":"2022-06-23T19:34:48","slug":"plantation-drive-organised-6","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/index.php\/2022\/06\/24\/plantation-drive-organised-6\/","title":{"rendered":"Plantation drive organised"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>RUKSIN, 23 Jun:<\/strong> More than 5,000 ornamental, shady and fruit-bearing trees were planted during a plantation drive organised here in East Siang district by the Siang brigade of the Indian Army under its &#8216;Green Envelope&#8217; initiative.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Deputy Commissioner Tayi Taggu also planted a sapling of <em>Pongamia pinnata<\/em> in the premises of the Rayang military station here as part of the programme.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The brigade&#8217;s commander, along with DFO (Territory) Tashi Mize and Jonai (Assam) Forest Range RFO Mukut Rabha also participated in the drive.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The DC urged the people to plant more trees &#8220;for greenery, protection of our environment, and to combat climate change.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He also lauded the efforts put in by the armed forces in rebuilding forest areas.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Green Envelope initiative includes phase-wise plantation of trees over a period of time to enhance the green cover in an area. It involves plantation of a large number of native trees in a smaller area, based on the Miyawaki technique pioneered by Japanese botanist Akira Miyawaki.
