LONGDING, 26 Jun:<\/strong> A two-member central team, comprising NITI Aayog Joint Secretary KS Rejimon and Bhubaneswar-based Central Ground Water Board hydrology scientist Mausumi Sahoo, arrived in Kanubari in Longding district on a three-day visit to take stock of the progress of the ‘Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch the Rain 22’ and discuss ways for its effective implementation.<\/p>\n Soon after their arrival, they held a meeting with DC Bani Lego and heads of various line departments.<\/p>\n Speaking on the occasion, Rejimon stated that climate change is a reality and it may lead to water crisis in the near future. He emphasised the need to “work on rejuvenation of the sources through various methods.”<\/p>\n Sahoo spoke on the need to take precautionary steps to save the district from falling into the ‘water stressed’ category.<\/p>\n Kanubari MLA GD Wangsu also spoke. “When we talk about global warming and climate change, people think it is a European concept and a European problem, which is not the case. Climate change is a reality; it is at our doorsteps,” he said.<\/p>\n The MLA said that adequate funding along with clear guidelines and incentives are important for the success of any scheme or programme.<\/p>\n Earlier, the heads of line departments highlighted the activities carried out under the Jal Shakti Abhiyan.
