{"id":19587,"date":"2018-02-14T01:20:10","date_gmt":"2018-02-13T19:50:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/?p=19587"},"modified":"2018-02-14T01:20:10","modified_gmt":"2018-02-13T19:50:10","slug":"central-team-assesses-flood-damages","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/index.php\/2018\/02\/14\/central-team-assesses-flood-damages\/","title":{"rendered":"Central team assesses flood damages"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<strong>PASIGHAT, Feb 13:<\/strong> The six-member inter-ministerial team headed by MHA Joint Secretary Prakash on Tuesday assessed the damages caused by floods in East Siang district during 2017.<br \/>\nThe central team, accompanied by state government officials, also conducted an aerial survey of various flood affected areas in the district.<br \/>\nDeputy Commissioner Tamiyo Tatak briefed the team on the extensive damages caused to roads, bridges, agriculture and horticulture fields, livestock, etc, by monsoon fury last year.<br \/>\nHe informed them that Mer, Gadum, Namsing and Silluk in Mebo subdivision, and Jarku, Pasighat market and Police Colony under Pasighat sadar, including Teking and Sibut, are some of the areas where floods caused major devastation.<br \/>\nThe DC informed that around 783.37 hectares of agriculture fields and 2.12 hectares of horticulture fields were badly affected by flood last year. Tatak also apprised the team of the extensive damages caused to vital roads and bridges by the Poglek stream, causing disruptions along the Pasighat-Ledum-Tene-Koyu road.<br \/>\nFlooding also caused extensive damages to wet rice fields and livestock downstream, besides affecting many villages downstream, Bosing-I ZPM Namuk Taloh informed.<br \/>\nThe DC also presented a sector-wise damage report to the team.<br \/>\nEarlier, the DC submitted a memorandum to the joint secretary, apprising him of the flood damages caused by monsoon fury during 2017 in East Siang.<br \/>\nAnimal Husbandry &amp; Veterinary Minister Mohesh Chai and Parliamentary Secretaries (Disaster Management) Kaling Moyong and Gum Tayeng (WRD) were also present.<br \/>\nLater, the inter-ministerial team visited Sibo-Korong area, including the Gidi-Notko boundary wall, and assessed the damages caused there.<br \/>\nEarlier, the central team was welcomed by MP Ninong Ering, Chief Councillor Kaling Doruk, ZPC Kaling Dai, departmental heads, panchayat members, and others.<br \/>\nDisaster Management Secretary Bidol Tayeng, the directors of the disaster management and agriculture departments, and chief engineers of various departments of the eastern zone accompanied the central team during its inspection and aerial survey.
