{"id":196517,"date":"2022-07-28T00:09:21","date_gmt":"2022-07-27T18:39:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/?p=196517"},"modified":"2022-07-28T00:09:21","modified_gmt":"2022-07-27T18:39:21","slug":"western-european-powers-press-iran-to-agree-to-nuclear-deal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/index.php\/2022\/07\/28\/western-european-powers-press-iran-to-agree-to-nuclear-deal\/","title":{"rendered":"Western European powers press Iran to agree to nuclear deal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">BERLIN , Jul 27 (AP) \u2014 Western European powers are pressing Iran to agree to a revival of its 2015 nuclear deal after a months-long standstill in negotiations, warning that what\u2019s on the table now is \u201cthe best possible deal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The foreign policy chief of the European Union, which has chaired long-running talks in Vienna, tweeted Wednesday that \u201cnow is decision time if we are to save the Iran Nuclear Deal.\u201d French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna said a return to full compliance with the agreement \u201cis still possible but, for that, a positive response from Iran is needed as soon as possible.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">That reflects mounting concern that time is running out to salvage the deal, in part because of the approach of midterm elections in the United States.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Iran and six world powers \u2014 the U.S., France, Germany, Britain, Russia and China \u2014 agreed in 2015 to the nuclear deal, which saw Tehran drastically limit its enrichment of uranium in exchange for the lifting of economic sanctions. In 2018, then-President Donald Trump unilaterally withdrew America from the accord.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Since the deal\u2019s de facto collapse, Iran has been running advanced centrifuges and rapidly growing its stockpile of enriched uranium. Talks in Vienna about reviving the deal and bringing the U.S. back on board have been stalled since April.
