{"id":197235,"date":"2022-08-05T00:51:38","date_gmt":"2022-08-04T19:21:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/?p=197235"},"modified":"2022-08-05T00:51:38","modified_gmt":"2022-08-04T19:21:38","slug":"skill-development-only-way-to-make-women-economically-self-reliant-misra","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/index.php\/2022\/08\/05\/skill-development-only-way-to-make-women-economically-self-reliant-misra\/","title":{"rendered":"Skill development only way to make women economically self-reliant: Misra"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>ITANAGAR, 4 Aug:<\/strong> Skill development is the only way to make women economically self-reliant, Governor BD Mishra&#8217;s wife Neelam Misra said on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Addressing the valedictory function of a skill development training programme in Yupia, organised by the Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women (APSCW), in collaboration with the Arunachal Pradesh Rural Bank-Rural Self Employment Training Institute (APRB-RSETI) and the Arunachal Pradesh Women&#8217;s Welfare Society (APWWS), Misra said that, &#8220;due to lack of socioeconomic and educational awareness, promotion of women has always been slow.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;Skill development, therefore, is the only way to break this shackle and make the women economically self-reliant,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Misra commended the APSCW, the APRB and the APWWS &#8220;for their women empowerment initiative,&#8221; and urged organisations and NGOs to &#8220;conduct skill development for wider rural communities, including women and girl child.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">She advocated forming SHGs or cooperative societies &#8220;to take up startups and brand marketing their products.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;The women of Arunachal Pradesh are very skilful in art and crafts, and with little support for innovation, Arunachali produce can go from local to global,&#8221; she said, and appealed to the people, especially the women, to &#8220;come forward and be promoters of the economic growth of the state.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">APSCW Chairperson Kenjum Pakam, Balban Deori of the APRB-RSETI, faculty member Martin Tayeng, and training coordinator Komna Moidam also spoke.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Thirty trainees from Papum Pare, West Siang, East Siang, Lower Siang, Siang, Upper Subansiri, Lower Subansiri, Shi-Yomi, Kra Daadi, Kurung Kumey and East Kameng districts benefitted from the training in mushroom cultivation, papad-, pickle- and masala powder-making and soft toy-making.
