CHANGLANG, 7 Sep:<\/strong> Thirty members of different SHGs formed under the NERCORMP are participating in a micro enterprise development programme (MEDP) on bakery and food products, which began here on Wednesday.<\/p>\n Sponsored by the NABARD’s regional office in Itanagar, the programme is being conducted by the Changlang Community Resource Management Society (CCRMS).<\/p>\n The participants will be trained in making different bakery products, packaging, and selling.<\/p>\n NABARD DDM Kamal Roy informed that “MEDPs have been introduced to build up skill and competence of SHG members to take up micro enterprises.<\/p>\n “SHG members have been enabled to get incremental income and additional employment created by the activities pursued after MEDP training, when compared to the pre-MEDP situation,” he said.<\/p>\n He also highlighted other developmental programmes of the NABARD for the benefit of SHGs and farmers.<\/p>\n CCRMS District Project Director Nonju Simai Tikhak said that “the programme is being conducted to enhance the production quantity by maintaining quality, keeping in mind the demand of food processing and bakery products in the area.<\/p>\n “This would empower rural women for better income and self-sustenance,” she said, and also spoke on “the scope and importance of skill training that would enhance the socioeconomic status of rural masses, especially women entrepreneurs.”<\/p>\n SBI Branch Manager Sumitra Singha encouraged the SHGs to “take up activities in serious manner for sustainable income generation and be competitive in market, especially in terms of pricing and quality.”<\/p>\n He assured that the SBI would provide all support, in terms of credit linkage of SHGs, after the completion of the training.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" CHANGLANG, 7 Sep: Thirty members of different SHGs formed under the NERCORMP are participating in a micro enterprise development programme (MEDP) on bakery and food products, which began here on Wednesday.
