{"id":201411,"date":"2022-09-27T00:23:40","date_gmt":"2022-09-26T18:53:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/?p=201411"},"modified":"2022-09-27T00:23:40","modified_gmt":"2022-09-26T18:53:40","slug":"nbu-professor-among-3-killed-while-returning-home-with-fathers-body","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/index.php\/2022\/09\/27\/nbu-professor-among-3-killed-while-returning-home-with-fathers-body\/","title":{"rendered":"NBU professor among 3 killed while returning home with father&#8217;s body"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Siliguri, Sep 26 (PTI) Three people were killed and two others critically injured in a head-on collision between a car and a truck in West Bengal&#8217;s Alipurduar district, police said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Surya Pada Paul, a professor of Geography at North Bengal University (NBU), was returning home to Alipuduar&#8217;s Kamakhyaguri along with the body of his father.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Paul was in a car along with his mother Minati, wife Purnima, five-year-old daughter Aditi and his friend Debashish Saha. They were following an ambulance, which was taking the body of Paul&#8217;s father from Siliguri to Kamakhyaguri.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The accident happened early morning on National Highway-31C in Kalchini block when a truck collided head-on with Paul&#8217;s car, police said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Police and fire services personnel rescued those in the car, and admitted them to the Alipurduar hospital. Paul, his mother and his friend died while undergoing treatment there, they said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Later, his wife and daughter were shifted to a private nursing home in Cooch Behar district for better treatment.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Police said they have seized the truck but the driver fled the spot.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Siliguri, Sep 26 (PTI) Three people were killed and two others critically injured in a head-on collision between a car and a truck in West Bengal&#8217;s Alipurduar district, police said.
