{"id":207275,"date":"2022-12-20T00:21:45","date_gmt":"2022-12-19T18:51:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/?p=207275"},"modified":"2022-12-20T00:21:45","modified_gmt":"2022-12-19T18:51:45","slug":"meghalaya-two-suspended-congress-mlas-join-ruling-npp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/index.php\/2022\/12\/20\/meghalaya-two-suspended-congress-mlas-join-ruling-npp\/","title":{"rendered":"Meghalaya: Two suspended Congress MLAs join ruling NPP"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\nShillong, Dec 19 (PTI) Suspended Congress MLAs Ampareen Lyngdoh and Mohindro Rapsang resigned on Monday, and joined Meghalaya&#8217;s ruling National People&#8217;s Party (NPP) in presence of Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Sangma welcomed the two legislators to the party at a function held in Iewrynghep.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Besides giving up their memberships of the Congress, the two legislators also resigned from the assembly.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;MLAs Ampareen Lyngdoh and Mohindro Rapsang tendered their resignations today at the office of the speaker,&#8221; a senior assembly official told PTI.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The speaker has accepted their resignation, he said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Lyngdoh and Rapsang were suspended as they declared support for the NPP-led Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) along with three other Congress legislators in February, after 12 of the party&#8217;s 17 MLAs switched over to the TMC, making it the state&#8217;s main opposition overnight.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The TMC lost one MLA from its kitty when HM Shangpliang resigned, and joined the BJP earlier this month.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The 60-member Meghalaya assembly is due for elections early next year.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Shillong, Dec 19 (PTI) Suspended Congress MLAs Ampareen Lyngdoh and Mohindro Rapsang resigned on Monday, and joined Meghalaya&#8217;s ruling National People&#8217;s Party (NPP) in presence of Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma.
