{"id":21010,"date":"2018-02-28T02:04:17","date_gmt":"2018-02-27T20:34:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/?p=21010"},"modified":"2018-02-28T02:04:17","modified_gmt":"2018-02-27T20:34:17","slug":"forum-demands-cancellation-of-10000mw-dam-on-siang-river","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/index.php\/2018\/02\/28\/forum-demands-cancellation-of-10000mw-dam-on-siang-river\/","title":{"rendered":"Forum demands cancellation of 10,000MW dam on Siang River"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Staff Reporter<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>ITANAGAR, Feb 27:<\/strong> Alleging that state government had entered into a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with NEEPCO (a power developer) without taking the consensus of the affected people, the Siang Indigenous Farmer&#8217;s Forum (SIFF) on Tuesday urged the state government to write to the NITI Ayog for immediate cancellation of the proposed 10,000 MW dam on Siang River.<br \/>\nThe NITI Aayog has proposed a multipurpose river valley project for Siang River.<br \/>\nThe proposed project is estimated to be a 300 metre high dam with power generation capacity of 10,000MW.<br \/>\nAddressing reporters here at the Press Club on Tuesday, SIFF general secretary Tasik Pangkam stated that the state government had executed the MoA with NEEPCO without taking consent from affected and indigenous people of the area.<br \/>\n&#8220;How can the government go on to sign MoA with the NEEPCO without the knowledge of land owners?
