{"id":210202,"date":"2023-02-04T01:48:13","date_gmt":"2023-02-03T20:18:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/?p=210202"},"modified":"2023-02-04T01:48:13","modified_gmt":"2023-02-03T20:18:13","slug":"sc-issues-notice-to-centre-over-bbc-docu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/index.php\/2023\/02\/04\/sc-issues-notice-to-centre-over-bbc-docu\/","title":{"rendered":"SC issues notice to Centre over BBC docu"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>NEW DELHI, 3 Feb:<\/strong> The Supreme Court on Friday sought a response from the central government on pleas challenging its decision to block a BBC documentary on the 2002 Gujarat riots.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A bench of justices Sanjiv Khanna and Justice MM Sundresh issued notices to the government and others on the pleas filed by veteran journalist N Ram, Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra and activist lawyer Prashant Bhushan.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It also issued a notice on the plea filed by lawyer ML Sharma.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The apex court also directed the Centre to produce original records relating to the take-down order.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;We are issuing notices. Counter affidavit be filed within three weeks. Rejoinder within two weeks after that,&#8221; the bench said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The matter is listed for next hearing in April.
