The competition was not much high, mostly the Asian wrestlers were competing. It was much tougher in the Croatian Ranking Series event. Sajan could have won today but since there was no national camp, our Greco-Roman wrestlers were not well-prepared,\u201d national coach Hargobind Singh told PTI.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cUsually they have better stamina but not having good practice has affected their fitness,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The national camps for senior wrestlers were put on hold due to the ongoing agitation of top grapplers and the Indian Olympic Association\u2019s ad-hoc committee taking charge of the functioning of the Wrestling Federation of India.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In the women\u2019s competition, young Sonam Malik, who is returning from an elbow injury, and Nisha Dahiya suffered first-round defeats while Priya lost her quarterfinal bout.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Sonam, the silver medallist at the 2022 junior world championships, lost 3-5 to China\u2019s Jia Long in the qualification round.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Asian championship silver medallist Nisha had a disappointing result in the 68kg competition as she lost by technical superiority to Uzbekistan\u2019s Firuza Esenbaeva.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Uzbeki later lost her quarterfinal to Turkey\u2019s Nesir Bas, thus closing the repechage door on Nisha.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In the 76kg, Priya began with a 6-0 win over Ukraine\u2019s Anastasiia Osniach but lost the quarterfinal 1-10 to China\u2019s Qiandegenchagan.<br \/>\nBoth Sonam and Priya were ousted when the wrestlers they lost to, failed to reach the final.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Meanwhile, India went unrepresented in the 57kg in which Anshu Malik was supposed to participate<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>BISHKEK, 2 Jun (PTI): Sajan Bhanwal made a spirited comeback after trailing 0-7 but lost steam in the second period of his bronze medal play-off after three Indian women wresters made early exit as India endured a medal-less day at the UWW Ranking Series event here on Friday.
