Editor,<\/strong><\/p>\n Tongam Rina has eloquently addressed the AP Monogamy Election Eligibility Bill issue in her article published in The Arunachal Times on 09.10.2023. It’s undeniable that the state government can’t use customary practices as a shield.<\/p>\n The state government must address this matter promptly; otherwise, it risks facing questions about its double standards. At the national level, the government promotes women’s empowerment and political participation through the women’s reservation bill, but at the state level, it suppresses women’s voices, exposing a clear contradiction.<\/p>\n If the government genuinely cares about women’s empowerment, why is it hesitant to discuss this issue? As elections approach, women must reflect on whether they are choosing a progressive government.
