{"id":23177,"date":"2018-03-22T01:58:36","date_gmt":"2018-03-21T20:28:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/?p=23177"},"modified":"2018-03-22T01:59:13","modified_gmt":"2018-03-21T20:29:13","slug":"cm-flags-off-mount-everest-expedition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/index.php\/2018\/03\/22\/cm-flags-off-mount-everest-expedition\/","title":{"rendered":"CM flags off Mount Everest expedition"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>DIRANG, Mar 21:<\/strong> Chief Minister Pema Khandu flagged off an expedition to Mount Everest at the National Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports (NIMAS) campus here on Wednesday.<br \/>\nThe 10-member expedition team led by NIMAS Director Colonel Sarfraz Singh would attempt summiting the world&#8217;s highest peak beginning this month.<br \/>\nBesides the NIMAS personnel, two local youths from Dirang are part of the expedition team.<br \/>\nThe chief minister met the team members and conveyed them good wishes for the successful summit.<br \/>\nThe expedition to Mt Everest was approved by the Defence Ministry in the previous year during a meeting between the chief minister and former Defence Minister Arun Jaitley.<br \/>\nLater, NIMAS trainee from HIM International School, Itanagar gave a demonstration on rock climbing on the country&#8217;s highest (22m) climbing tower installed at NIMAS campus.<br \/>\nArmy personnel from Garhwal Rifles and NIMAS personnel also demonstrated ice climbing, speed climbing, abseiling and different forms of rock climbing.
