{"id":233762,"date":"2024-02-02T00:33:20","date_gmt":"2024-02-01T19:03:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/?p=233762"},"modified":"2024-02-02T00:33:20","modified_gmt":"2024-02-01T19:03:20","slug":"mockery-of-constitutional-values","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/index.php\/2024\/02\/02\/mockery-of-constitutional-values\/","title":{"rendered":"Mockery of constitutional values"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Editor,<\/strong><br \/>\nThat the saffronites would turn their gaze towards Gyanvapi is a natural corollary of the &#8216;supreme success&#8217; of the Ayodhya project &#8211; illegal demolition of a mosque, members of the unruly mob to the leaders spearheading the &#8216;movement&#8217; getting allowed to escape scot-free, &#8216;reward&#8217; of that muscle-flexing through &#8216;green signal&#8217; of building the temple of the epic hero right at the very spot of the demolished mosque, and finally the state apparatus directly participating in the consecration of the &#8216;dream project&#8217;, ie, Ram temple.<br \/>\nIf the Ayodhya project can attain such supreme success just by virtue of the &#8216;belief of Hindus&#8217; (despite absolutely no proof of centuries-old Babri Masjid getting built upon any temple ruins) with a Congress government in New Delhi during that black day of 6 December, 1992, the Gyanvapi issue is merely a child&#8217;s play on the &#8216;strength&#8217; of purported evidence of temple ruins below the Varanasi mosque (as claimed by the Archaeological Survey of India) and &#8216;blessings&#8217; of the saffron government firmly placed at the Centre.<br \/>\nIf initiation of the Ayodhya project through riot-invoking rath yatra and the Babri demolition can promote a mere 2-MP party to the seat of central governance within just seven years, no prizes for guessing the guaranteed stupendous electoral gain to be achieved through the &#8216;successful completion'&#8221; of the Ram temple with immediate invocation of the Varanasi project through which zealous Hindutva, communalism and Islamophobia can be provided a further zealous boost.<br \/>\nAfter all, it has been proven that rabid hatred directed towards the &#8216;other&#8217;, religious muscle-flexing by making an absolute mockery of the constitutional values of secularism and all norms of law indeed &#8216;pay&#8217; in this communally vitiated society.<br \/>\nNo wonder why the cold-blooded threat of &#8216;respectfully&#8217; shifting the Gyanvapi mosque and handing over the site to the Hindus can be so chillingly issued. So much for the lip service of &#8216;restraint&#8217; and &#8216;humility&#8217; by the who&#8217;s who of the country, following the consecration of the temple.
