{"id":23438,"date":"2018-03-25T01:22:32","date_gmt":"2018-03-24T19:52:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/?p=23438"},"modified":"2018-03-25T01:22:32","modified_gmt":"2018-03-24T19:52:32","slug":"icar-nrcy-provides-assistance-to-brokpas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/index.php\/2018\/03\/25\/icar-nrcy-provides-assistance-to-brokpas\/","title":{"rendered":"ICAR-NRCY provides assistance to Brokpas"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>DIRANG, Mar 24:<\/strong> Twenty-five Brokpa yak farmers from Chander and Lagam areas participated in an extension camp organised by the ICAR-National Research Centre on Yak (ICAR-NRCY) here in West Kameng district on Friday.<br \/>\nDuring the programme, themed &#8216;Supporting tribal yak farmers during transhumance&#8217;, the Brokpas were briefed on scientific breeding, feeding, management and diseases control of yaks.<br \/>\nThe yak farmers face great difficulties during their transhumance period, such as hard living conditions due to bitter cold and snowfall; shortage of feed and fodder; and diseases in their animals. In order to support them in this regard, the institute, under its Tribal Sub-Plan (TSP), provided them with top-quality tents for sheltering themselves during their transhumance with yaks.<br \/>\nThe ICAR-NRCY also provided the Brokpas with animal feed, mineral mixtures, common salt, and basic veterinary medicines.<br \/>\nAnother 100 livestock farmers engaged in yak rearing living in and around Dirang were also provided with similar assistance.<br \/>\nThe resource persons of the programme included the institute&#8217;s principal scientist Dr Vijay Paul, senior scientist Dr D Medhi, and scientist Dr Joken Bam, along with others.<br \/>\nDarge and Sonam Norbu, the gaon buras of Chander and Lagam village, respectively, also spoke.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>DIRANG, Mar 24: Twenty-five Brokpa yak farmers from Chander and Lagam areas participated in an extension camp organised by the ICAR-National Research Centre on Yak (ICAR-NRCY) here in West Kameng district on Friday.
