\nThe title of the bill is ‘The Representation of The People Act (Amendment) Bill, 2017’.
\nThere are already provisions for declaration of assets and liabilities by every elected candidate of either House of Parliament within a period of 90 days from the date on which he takes charge as MP.
\nHowever, there are no such provisions for declaration of assets and liabilities after expiry of the term of membership.
\nThe proposed amendment in the parent bill seeks to disclose the income and assets even after the completion of the term of House by each Member of Parliament.
\nThe proposed bill will help in maintaining transparency and accountability of people’s representatives at the apex level.<\/p>\n
