They also inspected Tongani station near Kareng-Bogibeel Bridge and took stock of its progress.<br \/>\nBogibeel Bridge, the country&#8217;s longest rail-cum road bridge is under construction for the last 16 years. The railway authority has set a target of June this year to complete the construction of the bridge.<br \/>\nThe 4.94 km bridge will facilitate connectivity between the north and south banks of the Brahmaputra in Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.<br \/>\nAccording to NF Railway sources, out of the total 41 pillars along the bridge, work on 31 pillars has been completed, while work on the remaining part is under progress.<br \/>\nThe cost of the project shot up from Rs 1,700 crore to Rs 6,000 crore and deadlines were missed numerous times.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Correspondent RUKSIN, Mar 28: The Commissioner of Railway Safety, P K Acharya, accompanied by top ranking NF Railway officials on Wednesday conducted a trial run of the newly completed Dhemaji- Bogibeel BG railway line.
