New Delhi, 26 Apr: India on Friday emphasised on the need to adopt a \u201czero-tolerance approach\u201d towards terrorism in all its forms for prosperity and development of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) member states, officials said.
\nDefence Secretary Giridhar Aramane put forth New Delhi\u2019s assertion in this regard as he participated in the SCO Defence Ministers\u2019 meeting in Astana, Kazakhstan.
\n\u201cDuring the meeting, a protocol was signed by the defence ministers of all SCO member states. A Joint Communique was issued after the meeting, in which the SCO defence ministers agreed, amongst other initiatives, to developing the idea of \u2018One Earth, One Family, One Future\u2019, which is rooted in the ancient Indian philosophy of \u2018Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam\u2019,\u201d the defence ministers said in a statement.
\nDuring the meeting, the defence secretary reiterated India\u2019s steadfast commitment towards maintaining peace, stability and security in the SCO region, it said.
\nHe emphasised on the \u201cneed to adopt a zero-tolerance approach towards terrorism in all its forms for prosperity and development of the SCO member states\u201d.
\nAramane mentioned about India\u2019s long-standing proposal of Comprehensive Convention on International Terrorism at the United Nations.
