{"id":240594,"date":"2024-05-18T00:23:57","date_gmt":"2024-05-17T18:53:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/?p=240594"},"modified":"2024-05-18T00:23:57","modified_gmt":"2024-05-17T18:53:57","slug":"pci-seeks-report-from-up-govt-on-journalists-murder","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/index.php\/2024\/05\/18\/pci-seeks-report-from-up-govt-on-journalists-murder\/","title":{"rendered":"PCI seeks report from UP govt on journalist&#8217;s murder"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>NEW DELHI, 17 May:<\/strong> The Press Council of India (PCI) on Friday sought a report from the Uttar Pradesh government on the killing of a journalist in Jaunpur district, taking suo moto cognisance of the matter.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The council, a quasi-judicial body, has also sought a report from the Odisha government on the assault on two journalists in Kandhamal district.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ashutosh Srivastava, a journalist with the &#8216;Sudarshan News&#8217; television channel, was shot dead in Jaunpur on Monday.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In Odisha&#8217;s Kandhamal district, Uttam Khamari and Subrat Kumar Mohanty, working with Odia dailies Prameya and Pragativadi, respectively, were allegedly assaulted by a sub-divisional police officer.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to a complaint received by the PCI, the police also refused to register a complaint submitted by the journalists.
