{"id":243569,"date":"2024-07-03T00:58:28","date_gmt":"2024-07-02T19:28:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/?p=243569"},"modified":"2024-07-03T00:58:28","modified_gmt":"2024-07-02T19:28:28","slug":"workshop-on-arecanut-cultivation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/index.php\/2024\/07\/03\/workshop-on-arecanut-cultivation\/","title":{"rendered":"Workshop on arecanut cultivation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>PASIGHAT, 2 Jul:<\/strong> A state-level workshop on &#8216;Scientific arecanut cultivation technologies&#8217; was held at the College of Agriculture (CoA) here in East Siang district on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Attending the programme, Mebo MLA Oken Tayeng acknowledged the efforts of Kasaragod (Kerala)-based Central Plantation Crops Research Institute (CPCRI) and the CoA for taking the initiative to train the local farmers in scientific cultivation of arecanut.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">CoA Dean BN Hazarika advised the farmers to &#8220;take up mixed cropping of areca, involving black pepper, cocoa, banana, etc, for maximising your income.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A total of 100 farmers from East Siang, Siang, Upper Siang, Lower Siang, and other districts attended the workshop.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Twenty thousand arecanut saplings were distributed among the farmers.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The programme was attended by, among others, CPCRI Director Dr Hebbar KB, CPCRI principal scientists Dr Samsudeen K and Dr Thambam C, and former CoA dean Dr AK Tripathi.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The programme was funded by the CPCRI under the tribal sub-plan component.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>PASIGHAT, 2 Jul: A state-level workshop on &#8216;Scientific arecanut cultivation technologies&#8217; was held at the College of Agriculture (CoA) here in East Siang district on Tuesday.
