{"id":246248,"date":"2024-08-13T01:40:17","date_gmt":"2024-08-12T20:10:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/?p=246248"},"modified":"2024-08-13T01:40:17","modified_gmt":"2024-08-12T20:10:17","slug":"sdp-for-yak-herders-organised","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/index.php\/2024\/08\/13\/sdp-for-yak-herders-organised\/","title":{"rendered":"SDP for yak herders organised"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>DIRANG, 12 Aug:<\/strong> Twenty-five Brokpas from nine yak rearing villages in West Kameng district participated in a two-day skill development programme (SDP) organised by the National Research Centre on Yak (NRCY) here recently.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The programme, which was organised in collaboration with the Arunachal Pradesh Yak Herders &amp; Products Development Cooperative Society, was aimed at acquainting the yak herders with how to generate income through yak products, especially chitpa jhamu (the five-pronged cap worn by the Brokpas) and chamar (a yak fibre product with huge market demand).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;The technical input for the programme was provided by the NRCY under the patronage of its Director Dr Mihir Sarkar, and the resource persons included a 76-year-old woman from Pangma village, who is an expert in the art of making chitpa jhamu, while chamar-making was taught to the participants by the yak herders who previously attended a similar SDP organised by the NRCY,&#8221; the research centre informed in a release.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Later, cream separators and chamar-making kits were distributed among the trainees, it added.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>DIRANG, 12 Aug: Twenty-five Brokpas from nine yak rearing villages in West Kameng district participated in a two-day skill development programme (SDP) organised by the National Research Centre on Yak (NRCY) here recently.
